They say that wisdom is the result of a life spent learning and my life reflects that. I was born into a devout Christian family, to a father who was a pastor and a mother with a servant heart. My dad had a passion for teaching the values of service, community, fellowship, and compassion and I had a passion for learning. I didn’t know it then, but it was those lessons that would inform the path of my life.

I was born in Panama City, Florida and spend most of my formative years in the panhandle before moving to Southeast Alabama, where I would go to college, get married and start a family. Family is the most important thing to me, so when choosing a career, I wanted to make sure that I could devote to my family but also make a difference in the lives of other families. I had a passion for real estate, personal finance, and a talent for planning. I found a role that I thought would combine all of those, wealth management. Marcia started in the financial services industry 25 years ago and has not looked back since.

The latest chapter of my life has been spent in Birmingham, Alabama. I moved here in 2005 and I have been building my own wealth management practice ever since and what a journey it has been.

I believe that listening is the core of service. Many of us know what it feels like to not feel heard, especially when it comes to money. I won’t sugar coat it, figuring out your financial life plan is not simple. You have goals, dreams, aspirations, families, and a litany of other things that you want to happen. Our goal is to listen, understand, and take that information to create a plan for you to make your dreams happen.

A defining characteristic of my career has been my passion for people. My path to this role has not been conventional, but it has been marked with a deep desire to understand people, their stories, and always be there to help them. When I was growing up, one field that always had intrigued me was nursing.

I decided to pursue that as a career and got my Bachelor of Nursing from Samford. Luckily for me, Birmingham is home to one of the best hospitals in the country, UAB Hospital, and that is where I spent the last 5 years of my career in the Cardiac ICU as a nurse. As you can imagine, the pandemic was not easy as a nurse, but it taught me some very important lessons about myself and life in general. Being nurse is about giving excellent care to your patients, calming them through a storm, asking the right questions, and managing a lot at once. We have to know the science behind the care we are giving, but just as important, is our ability to guide patients through the tough realities they face.

Last year, my husband and I welcomed a beautiful baby into this world. I have always known that I would want to spend as much time at home with my baby when I became a mother. Last year, that became a reality, but I also knew that I did not want to stop working all together. In what feels like fate, Marcia and I were speaking to me about what I wanted to do and after our conversation, I think we both knew what to do. She gave me the opportunityto come work for her as the marketing manager and I have been working with her ever since.

In my role, I have been able to see how passions can manifest in many ways. What I loved about nursing are also the reason that I love what I get to do now. I get to connect with people, foster relationships, and see how we can help clients live the life they want. Being able to take those experiences and share them, create events to engage clients, and foster new relationships has been an amazing experience.

When I am not at the office, I spend most of my time with my husband and daughter. We enjoy spending our days together playing with friends and family. We are active members at our church and love the community we live in!

Jennifer, a lifelong resident of the Birmingham, AL area, currently calls Helena, AL home. She shares her life with her loving husband, a furry friend and two charming cats. Her journey began as a bank teller, a role she took on early in her career. However, since 2005, she has found her true calling in the world of asset management.

Jennifer’s professional journey saw her dedicating nearly 12 years to a previous Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firm before she found her new home at RFG Advisory. Her dedication to her work shines through in her passion for client service. She strives to provide a pleasant experience for her clients, helping them feel supported and cared for.

Jennifer holds an associate degree in paralegal services, an achievement earned through an online college. As for her personal interests, she finds solace in the pages of a good book, cherishes quality time spent with family, enjoys the great outdoors with her dog, and has a wanderlust that leads her to explore new destinations whenever she can. Jennifer’s life is a blend of professional dedication and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
