About Matt

One of the most powerful things that I have realized in my career in finance, so far, has been the importance of connection. Although it is not the first thing that many people think about when someone mentions my profession, I think that it has defined where I am today.

My road to wealth management started in college, when I was majoring in Finance at UAB. There, I found my passion for the technical side of business, asset management, and the many other aspects of finance. From there, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career building value through the skills that I had developed in my studies, so I decided to go to business school at Clemson.

After earning my MBA, I was fortunate to pursue an opportunity to realize one of my dreams to work on the institutional side of asset management for the London Stock Exchange in both Charlotte and New York City. As a young professional in my twenties, I thought this was a peak that I had to relish, but after spending 5 years working in that field, I realized that there was something missing. I would soon realize that the missing piece was the piece of the puzzle that would bring me back to Birmingham, connection. Not only the connection to family, but also a community who I have the skills to help.

I decided to move back to Birmingham and pursue a career in wealth management and I was lucky enough to connect with Marcia. Over the past few years, we have been working together to serve clients, and I can say that it has been incredibly rewarding to see the difference that we can make in the lives of our clients.

We work as a team. Marcia has been serving clients for over 25 years and I bring institutional experience that gives clients insight and access to some of the technical skills that traditionally only corporations have had access to, really helping us bring a wholistic experience to our clients. We believe in the power of planning, connection, and the skills to help you reach your goals. We like to say, “the math doesn’t lie, that’s why we do it”. Once we are able to give clients that confidence, it is amazing to see the difference it makes in their lives.

I am excited for the future as our team grows and we continue to serve clients, developing deep connections and helping them create the lives that they dream of.

Outside of the office, my main priority is spending time with my wife (soon-to-be) Amanda and our golden, Charlotte. In my free time, I like to go golfing and spending time with my friends and family at the lake.
